Lovely portrait of a lonely buck. Also appreciate the story. Most animals go through a bust and boom period. Maybe that is what's happening?

We had such a warm fall that the rut was later. But I am still not seeing many deer. I hope you are right Jane. I appreciate your feedback thanks very much.

Thanks Clifford, your comments are always appreciated. The deer have a trail that come out of the bush into this field. I was in the right place at the right time I guess.

I like how you caught him in a little clearing surrounded by the tall grasses and bushes. The colour contrasts really set him off here. A beautiful capture of this handsome looking whitetail, Debra.

Thanks very much Heather. When I first spotted him he was walking along the edge of the tall trees further back. As luck would have it he decided to start walking in my direction.

Wow! this is a very beautyful buck Dabra and you caught him in a great pose. The deer stands out very well against the pale ground and grey-blue forest.

Thanks Yves, he was just sauntering through the field headed in my direction. I couldn’t resist.

Description
This buck would appear to have had a busy night wandering. He did not have a doe with him so I think he may be on the hunt for a doe. I am not sure what has played a part in the lack of white-tailed deer in the park this year but I am seeing half of what I would normally have see by now. I am not sure if the warmer temperatures are keeping the white-tail deeper in the bush or if their numbers are just down.
